Ego and responsibility in creative mindset
Creative industry is hard. More and more people demands what is right and acceptable just by what they needed. We can assure that a company with a low branding profile tends to like what htey see based on what they like. But this does not prove that a designer or artist should adapt to it in a old fashion way.
Back in the old age, creativity is practically based on the mindset of people when they looked everything through their eyes. With enough audience to support it, idea and creativity is merely a 2 lines in a white canvas. Its pretty much underated. Clapping hands will make sure it even succeed to the highest level without people knowing the story behind it.
This is where we come in. Creativity spawn frm the idea that everything must have a meaning and story in it. Other then that, it is categorized as artistict approach. Nevertheles, this already prove that thinking out of the box does make an impact if its done in a proper way.
Even though the industry is doin well after all this years of educating and showing the world what it means, they are still some individuals that is living in the past. Strong ego and lack of responsibility towards presenting the perfect ideas. A thin line between the producer and the presenter makes the whole world fall into pieces. Great design or ideas could not reach target audience without a proper understanding or even knowledge on the piece itself. With many designers now rely on personnel such as marketing manager or middle men for certain freelancer, there's no doubt that it tends to break things into 2 parts. Ego and Responsibility.
These personnel should always bear in mind that things are not easy. Especially creativity. Ideas are coming from all directon but this is the thing that these personnel should learn to encounter. Becoming middle men in a project takes a greater responsibility towards the project itself. It act as a bridge between ideas and reality. Putting ego in the first place only makes thing worse.
Listed is what the industry needs to maintain its stability for better future:
- Listen and memorize the main point. It won't be a point if its not important.
- Use and analyze every job/project thoroughly. It takes 1 hour to understand and 1 year to ignore it.
- Keep promises. We promise everything...just make sure it is true.
- Learn from mistakes. We're human after all....nobody is perfect.
- Communicate clearly. Truely proven without it, we fail absolutely.
- Get feedbacks. We need to know instead of guessing.
- Throw away your ego. Sometimes there is a reason behind the nonsene or impossible. Try to accept it.
- Be responsible. Paying or not paying is the key to what you should do.
- Close the deal. Easy or hard...everything must end.
I truly believe that sometimes personality takes over ego and responsibility. But please understand that when it comes to a certain level, this must be ignored to achieve best result. It is not about yourself when it come to handling a project, client or even designers. Try to differentiate what you're doing. Make sure ther's a balance into everything you do. Take priority in what should be done rather then relying on instinct. There are places instinct and experience does no apply well...take this advantage/disadvantage to turn the whole game around and make it possible.
